I bought an NP6165 from xotic pc in September, and was very impressed with both the service at xotic and the performance of the laptop. Despite being a midrange gpu, the 650m handled absolutely any game I threw at it at 1080 resolution and high settings. I played through Battlefield 3 at medium/high settings and the experience was always smooth and fluid. I enjoyed the laptop so much that I ended up wishing I had given myself a larger budget and gotten a higher end Sager. I spoke with Derek, who helped me return my 6165 for a no questions asked refund, and I placed my order for an NP9150 with a radeon 7970m. My new laptop is a beast! I really couldn't be happier with xotic pc's friendly, helpful staff, and my awesomely powerful new laptop! I absolutely will buy another Sager from xotic pc in the future! |

I'm very happy with Xotic PC's service. Every time I have contacted them with a question or concern they've been 100% accessible, friendly and helpful. I was able to chose all of the features I'd been looking for and even some features I didn't know were possible. The laptop shipped quickly and worked like a champ straight out of the box. I give Xotic 5 stars for their service and the actual laptop 4 stars. I wish the power supply was not so big and bulky and 15 moths later, the left mouse button is lose and wobbly. But all in all it's a great machine and a great bargain. I priced out a mac with as many of the same features as Apple offers and it was more than twice the price that I paid. |

I just received a Sager NP6165 from Xotic PC. Unfortunately I am extremely unhappy the product that I received from XoticPC.
The keyboard has a cheap feel to it, the battery life is almost non-existent (the battery lasts, on average, 1 hour and 45 minutes) and the cooling system is inefficient.
I have had multiple crashes of the OS which I paid for you to install. This just should not happen. And most importantly, the CD drive came broken. It does not latch well and springs open periodically. This has already wasted both time and money by causing me to have to re-burn DVDs when they don\'t write the first time. The most frustrating problem of all is that the built in mouse is hyper sensitive and built in a way that creates problems when typing. Every couple of key strokes the cursor moves to somewhere that I am not typing causing me to have to go back and re-edit when I finally notice. This poor design is frustrating.
Lastly the service that I received was incredibly poor. It started when I ordered my computer using my credit card. Unfortunately, I must have keyed one digit of my credit card wrong, but no one ever contacted me about my mistake. It actually took 3 phone calls to XoticPC to get my order squared away and a full extra week after the expected delivery for it to arrive. I was working with an important deadline for which I needed my computer at the time. I was told that the computer would arrive in around 9 days. It took another week after that point and I ended up missing that important deadline for which I was planning on using my new computer.
Now I am returning the PC but I am being charged a 15% restocking fee because I was not able to return it within the 30 day cut off but the PC took almost 20 days to get to me so even if I had wanted to return the PC on day one I would not have been able to get it back to the plant in time. |

Pros - Nice sized laptop, the keyboard layout is amazing.
Cons - Laptop runs hot compared to other laptops of its class. Runs 50-60c on start up and idle with minimal background programs i.e. MSE and basic utilities.
(Haven't had the chance to allow a true heat test but so far its idle temperature is mildly high)
~It is highly highly recommended you get a laptop cooler that has some sort of elevation or one that is high powered like the CM U2 or U3
~Don't expect high battery life * I didn't obviously because this laptop wasn't meant to have high battery life*
~Recommended dimming brightness for casual usages *when you're not gaming* |
