excellent machine
I pick up this machine as a birthday gift for my girlfriend, she loves it she went from getting 18 -20 fps in most games to 60+ on every title the machine runs quite and cool and will play every game out there currently and ones to come as well for a while. the price on this machine is amazing also when some places want that much for a upgraded basic laptop or a mac book.

Hot Value
This is a very quality laptop with good specs for a practically unbeatable price. RGB Keyboard is very nice, trackpad is satisfying and accurate battery is decent around 2-3 hours with moderate use. Biggest problem is heat during intense use. It reaches about 84 celcius on the GPU for me which is still safe for operation but pretty warm to the touch. Recommend if you don't mind about fan noise too much or eyecandy on the build

Meh, could've done better...stuck with it now.
I purchased this laptop for college, figured that I could treat myself to a little something more since I had to sell my desktop. From a specs point of view, it pretty much trumps my old desktop (FX 8320, 1060 6gb, 16gb ddr3). But the disappointing thing is that it doesn't actually work better in the real world. As a couple reviewers have already stated, the thermals are not great, I think mine is probably about the worst of the bunch. When I received this laptop, I was eager to do some bench marking. The 7700hq got a score of 713 in cinibench r15, really not bad, but the thermals to achieve such a score were horrible...87C and sometimes up to 90C. Now I know that laptops are supposed to run a little hotter than their desktop cousins, but this is truly pathetic. I'm constantly worried about the integrity of my system. To solve the problem I disabled turbo boost with XTU, pegged at 2.8ghz now, score of 585 in cinibench with about 75C. The gpu would get up to about 84C in heaven benchmark absolutely maxed at 1080p. I used nvidia profiler to limit the frame output to 60fps and v-sync in combination with that so that the load on the gpu is minimal, about 70C. Better, but I shouldn't have to limit my systems abilities just to be comfortable. I want what I'm paying for and this just isn't it. Unfortunately I'm stick with it now as I'm on a payment plan and I don't want to go through the headache of returning and getting everything sorted out.

As for build quality, is about average for a laptop of this caliber in my opinion. The deck is metal which is nice, but the bottom of the chassis is plastic. The hinge is very rigid and takes a fair bit of force to use, some will like is and some will hate it, I honestly don't mind too much. The outer face if the lid is metal while the inner bezels are plastic. The keyboard is nice, 3 areas of rgb to customize. And a number pad is always nice. Not too much to say there. A really great part of this laptop is actually the display. Yes, only 1080P but at ~15" it's really not that bad. Colors are bright and the viewing angles are superb, I really don't have any complaints with it. The track-pad is absolute garbage, but I never use anything other than a mouse so I'm not bothered. Haven't messed around with the speakers too much since I always have headphones in or have it plugged into a sound system, but from what little experience I have with them, they do the job. The fans get pretty loud, but if you're wearing headphones it won't matter. The battery is 5300mah, it will last you about 4 hours of mixed usage. I bought it without an OS and installed windows myself, so I do not have nvidia optimus drivers. Your mileage may vary.

TLDR

This is a great laptop for the hardware that's in it. It's probably the only full fat laptop with a 1060 6gb that you can get for this price. I've had to tweak it so it's only about 80% as powerful as it should be which is a real bummer, but it keeps it from getting too hot. It does the job, but I'm seriously disappointed to say that I think I could've made a better purchase. Don't get hyped on the specs, you won't be able to use them to their fullest without setting your room on fire. I still don't know how I feel about it.

Be cautious when considering this laptop.

Recommended if you are on a budget
The build quality is not the best, the monitor is not very sturdy and the hinge might not last very long. There were a lot of problems with the graphic card not recognizing but can be solved with a few reboot. This problem happens very often and quite annoying. For the price, it is extremely cheap for the performance you are getting. The thermal is not very great, constantly get 80C on load when playing game and idle is around 45C

Heat machine
Great machine, but it has some flaws. This may be biased due to my experience with the device for a short time. I ended up returning this and I will explain to you why.

Price: Great price for what is in the machine. I did make a few customizations and still was paying a reasonable price. If you got money, spend it.

Quality: Not the best quality, but not the worst, although I may have had terrible luck with machine I received. This is why I ended up returning the machine. I had received the machine and only been using it for 4 days of normal gaming before the main issue happened.

On the 4th day of actually using the machine, the system blue screened and restarted. I didn't think anything of it at first, but then found that the system no longer recognized the GPU. I went through many troubleshooting steps to fixing drivers and even a clean OS install, but it did not resolve the problem. That was the biggest pain point to having this machine and it giving me this problem only after 4 days of having the system.

Another terrible issue I had with this machine was that it got extremely hot which made it very uncomfortable due to the location of the heat. The machine got extremely hot right on the whole keyboard area where the letters are located. This made it very uncomfortable when playing MMO's or typing during certain games. I even had added thermal compound to my machine during customization and it still ended up being uncomfortable when hot. Not sure if this may have contributed to the GPU giving out, but it did not help. Keep in mind, I did have the laptop on a computer desk with open space all around it.

Value: Good value for what is inside the machine. Just hope that if you do get this machine, you have something to help with cooling the machine as the way cooling is handled by default is not great at all. Even thermal compound couldn't help this machine from taking itself out. If you do get lucky and don't have any issues with temperatures, then enjoy a powerful machine in a comfortable size.

I ended up returning this machine only after 4 days due to the issues with the GPU and heating problem. I could not get the GPU to work no matter what I tried. I was able to return it with no issues other than me having to pay for and ship it back myself. I ended up getting the Sager NP8156 instead and have had zero issues with this new machine. Definitely better build quality and an upgrade from this model. Worth the few extra bucks to get some better parts inside. If you got the money, spend it.
