Juan Serafica - 01/05/2010 XoticPC was very accommodating for a special need for rush processing in order for me to receive the laptop before I left the country for vacation. I paid an extra $50 for their rush processing service, and they built/shipped the laptop in a single day! With UPS 2 day service, I received the laptop literally 4 days after order which included a weekend. I ordered a larger harddrive and 4gb of ram as my custom options w/ Windows 7 home installed.
The laptop itself has performed absolutely phenomenally for intense gaming and multitasking. I have once run Left 4 Dead windowed (on high everything settings) while chatting with friends on a flash-based video conferencing interface and downloading large files @ 800kbs-1.1mbs with NO LAG and 58 fps even when there was a horde of zombies on my screen and playing with 3 other players. It runs everything out there, including crysis and dragon age, at the maximum settings @ native resolution. The screen is absolutely beautiful and very bright which can hurt your eyes on the highest setting in a fully dark room. They keyboard and touchpad are very easy to type with. The build and look of the laptop, while not flashy, is very pleasing in its simplicity (as I also bring the laptop to business meetings and important discussions, I wouldn't be caught dead with a laptop that looked something like the ASUS G50). The best thing about this laptop is the cooling system; even when during heavy multitasking including gaming, the laptop remains lukewarm at best. If you lift the laptop by sticking a book underneath it to let air flow the temperatures will cool back to minimum in a couple of minutes if the warmth makes you uncomfortable. I have had no issues with the laptop after a month of abuse.
This laptop is worth every penny if you are willing to spend extra. I would highly recommend saving up to buy this sager over its ASUS competitor to anyone who's thinking to keep their laptop for 3+ years. |
Eugene Veeden - 12/11/2009 Amazing laptop, amazing quality. Love the keyboard and the 1080 screen definitely worth the price! Very quiet even while gaming. I just hope Xotic sets up a better shipping method to Canada. DONT USE UPS! |
Shawn Stevenson - 12/10/2009 First I want to say that XoticPC's customer service was some of the best I have had with any company. Emails were answered quickly and you are able to send many emails back and forth in a day. There phone support was also some of the best I have seen. There staff was very polite and answered any questions you may have.
Now onto the computer.
Without a doubt this laptop blew my expectations away. There was lots of talk about the fans being loud. I have to say that I strongly disagree with this. When surfing the internet, word documents and other less intensive tasks the fan noise is barely there. When doing things such as gaming the fan noise is there, but doesn't have a whinnying sound that can be annoying. The noise is just the sound of moving air. Performance is where this notebook really shines. For a 15" notebook the power the computer has is impressive and like what is said in the ad, it is the most powerful 15" notebook on the market today. The screen is really beatiful, it does not have a single dead pixel and the viewing angles are nice. The build quality is awesome and the system feels solid. I will say that the notebook is lacking battery life. I average about an hour surfing the internet or doing word processor. With gaming notebooks battery life isn't the best, but Clevo could of tried to get a little more. When buying this laptop I knew the battery life wasn't the greatest. This doesn't really effect me because I almost always have the charger.
So if you are looking for a gaming notebook this is a notebook I would look hard at. You don't pay for flashy lights, what you pay for is performance and a solid machine. |
MICHEL BERGEL - 11/22/2009 I bought this machine while it was on pre-order status. I have to tell you that I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase, without even mentioning the costumer support from XoticPC. I ordered without OS, so I had to figure out how to do it by myself. After all, I'm switched to Windows 7 at 64 bits, and the score I got on 3Dmark06 was 12,400 on default, and 9,000 on 1600x900 with 4AA. Pretty good for me. Mine has Blu-ray, and a 1.6 Core i7. I would recommend a little faster chip for game, but besides that, I have no complains whatsoever. It says it's 15.6, but it has the size of a 17" laptop weighting the same as a 15". The screen is wonderful for everything. My only con here would be the noise - it does make a little noise, but you can set it to a lower fan speed, resulting into very little noise.
In summary - I would definitely recommend it to anyone who like playing games like me, and of course has an extra budget to spend on it. |
