This laptop is ridiculously fast. I use fairly resource intense software such as photoshop and netbeans and they operate flawlessly without hesitation. The overall build is very clean and solid. It does not have allot of flash, but that is one of the reasons I purchased it. I didn't want people to be able to tell I had a gaming laptop from a mile away. The keyboard is solid without much flex. I also like the fact that it has a full number keypad. All the ports are spaced appropriately and I have had no problems attaching multiple peripherals. One very minor issue is that the power cord attaches in the very center of the back panel, which is slightly awkward if you are trying to use the back USB ports along with a HDMI monitor (view pictures to see what I mean). The speakers are pretty much what you would expect from a laptop but I would recommend using headphones or external speakers to listen to music, play games, etc. The screen is one of the best I have ever seen in a laptop. I paid extra to get the full HD and am very happy I did so.
The customer service of Xotic PC was some of the best I have ever dealt with. My sales rep was Joseph and he answered all of my questions without bias or sounding like he was trying to get me to buy a specific product. He was extremely knowledgeable yet he didn't act like he was too busy or that he was too smart to be helping me out. I even had some issues with my bank sending the money order and he helped me work through it without a hitch. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend Xotic PC to anyone w..

Just received my np8690 this week. Great service, I purchased the rush build and xoticpc got it done and shipped in less than a day. The computer is very sturdy and the fans are not as loud as I have been led to believe. You can hear them but they are very reasonable for the power that this notebook packs. The screen is incredible. I just watched Avatar in Blue-Ray and it was, to my eyes, even better than the theater. The laptop remained very cool throughout. I have yet to test any games but everything this computer does is really fast. I am impressed. The only draw back is UPS as I had a huge problem with one day shipping, and got it almost five days later. Despite this, they have refunded my TOTAL shipping cost which was pretty admirable. Overall a great computer

I was very skeptical when people were saying 'Wow Xoticpc is awesome! Wow their laptops are so amazing!' until I received this laptop myself. I ordered this laptop on 3/25/2010. One of the representative I talked on Livechat told me NP8690 was in stock. I wanted the Asus G73JH-A2 but since it was out of stock, I decided to go with this instead. Since the last two of my laptop purchases have been definite fails I wanted to make sure I get a good quality laptop for reasonable price. This laptop seemed like one. My laptop's configuration was -- i7 720 QM, 4gb 1335hz RAM, DVD, 1600x900 LCD, ATi 5870m, no Windows installed. (I didn't want my laptop to be shipped with bunch of Trial applications.)
When I ordered however, they sent an email saying this laptop was out of stock. I talked on the Livechat three days before the purchase. I guess it went out of stock after that. They said the ETA was April 5th. What the HECK? That was almost 2 weeks. They suggested that I may choose to buy other product which I found interesting because I've never had companies telling me options when the product I wanted was out of stock. +1 to XoticPC.
So I just decided to wait since Asus G73JH's ETA was unknown since it was getting sold out everywhere. On Tuesday of the following week, 3/30/2010, they said the product came in stock!!! OMG YES. XoticPC sent emails every single day with updates on how my laptop building process was going! Every day! +10000 XoticPC
I was given a tracking number but the laptop was coming from California, which meant no tracking update until the day be..

I purchased the Sager NP8690 in the second half of January. I upgrade the memory to 6GB, the processor to the Core i7 820, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Blu-Ray player. The computer arrived on time and in great condition. My son and I were very excited about starting it for the first time. Its been about a month now and I've done the following with it:
1. Wiped out Windows 7 Ultimate and installed Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
2. Reinstalled the OS and all drivers four days later due to a problem with Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
3. Installed Linux Mint 64bit on a second partition (current setup and it works well)
I only have 2 issues with this computer. The first minor issue is Bluetooth. The Bluetooth radio turns off on every reboot hibernate or suspend. This is dumb. Almost every other notebook computer I've used in the last 8 years has the ability to keep Bluetooth on.
The second issue which I consider major, is the battery. At best I get 1 hour from the battery. I know this is more of a gaming notebook, but I wanted top end computer with the sleek looks of this computer. It has everything I wanted except good battery life. To my knowledge, they don't make a battery with a longer capacity. I've tried running the notebook in reduced power mode, turning off Bluetooth, and dimming the screen. If the battery life was better, I would give it 5 stars.
I am still pleased with this computer, and enjoy watching Blu-Ray movies, running Windows 7 Ultimate and Linux Mint 8, blogging, making some videos with Windows Live Movie Maker, and playing some games...

XoticPC was very accommodating for a special need for rush processing in order for me to receive the laptop before I left the country for vacation. I paid an extra $50 for their rush processing service, and they built/shipped the laptop in a single day! With UPS 2 day service, I received the laptop literally 4 days after order which included a weekend. I ordered a larger harddrive and 4gb of ram as my custom options w/ Windows 7 home installed.
The laptop itself has performed absolutely phenomenally for intense gaming and multitasking. I have once run Left 4 Dead windowed (on high everything settings) while chatting with friends on a flash-based video conferencing interface and downloading large files @ 800kbs-1.1mbs with NO LAG and 58 fps even when there was a horde of zombies on my screen and playing with 3 other players. It runs everything out there, including crysis and dragon age, at the maximum settings @ native resolution. The screen is absolutely beautiful and very bright which can hurt your eyes on the highest setting in a fully dark room. They keyboard and touchpad are very easy to type with. The build and look of the laptop, while not flashy, is very pleasing in its simplicity (as I also bring the laptop to business meetings and important discussions, I wouldn't be caught dead with a laptop that looked something like the ASUS G50). The best thing about this laptop is the cooling system; even when during heavy multitasking including gaming, the laptop remains lukewarm at best. If you lift the laptop by sticking a book underneath it to let air flow th..

Amazing laptop, amazing quality. Love the keyboard and the 1080 screen definitely worth the price! Very quiet even while gaming. I just hope Xotic sets up a better shipping method to Canada. DONT USE UPS!
