I purchased this laptop back in May 2008 as an everyday workhorse. I'm a software developer and work in Visual Studio 8-10 hours a day, normally as client's locations.
A small light weight laptop would be nice, but they are normally slow and have small screens. When compiling 50,000 line projects a few hundred times a day, you need some serious power.
I optioned my N9262 with a Q6700 Quad core CPU, two 200GB 7200 RPM drives and 4 GB of Ram. I also got the higher rez screen and an extra adaptor so I could leave one at my main location and one @ home. I also am running two extra 20" (1680x1050) monitors using a Matrox DualHead2Go. It works nice to have a total of 3 monitors to work on.
I configured my machine and the order took about 1 week to ship and I got it a few days later with any issues. Xoticpc.com was very quick to update me as the order progressed.
I was very impressed after installing Vista 64 SP1. My boot times are pretty decent and compile times are about 3-6 times faster than my old laptop (HP DV9010).
In October I decided to tweak the system and installed (3) 32GB SSD all in a RAID 0 config (Samsung SLC types). ALl I can say is WOW!!! My boot times to Vista are now _1:15 seconds from powerup. My compile times are _5 seconds for a 50,000 VB 2008 app. I wait for almost nothing. HD Tune shows _240MB/sec transfer. Only downfall w/ SSD is cost and size, but I'd prefer to have the speed, and I carry a few extra USB 2 HDs for larger files.
I have a dual Quad core with 16GB ram as my main machine @ home with 4 WD Velociraptor 300GB, and ..
