michael garner - 11/24/2009 Ordered this for my wife who does photography. Her sony laptop died and this was her replacement machine. Little skeptical at first, however, this thing is what it advertizes for, a "desktop replacement". Dont be fooled, this machine really uses a desktop I7 920+ processor and fit it on a laptop. Topped off with a more than plenty of horsepower videocard if you want to play games, and plenty of room for hard drives. SInce this was a work machine, topped it off with a pair of the Intel X25 SSDs. Needless to say, it is fast, and this is coming from a QuadCore raid0 (2xraptors 10,000rpm drives) user. The build is solid, one of the coolest laptops Ive used (im talking temperatures here), and it is the only laptop on the market using a desktop processor. It really is a mobile desktop (12lbs) with futureproof horsepower. No regrets whatsoever, its a workhorse. |
Robert Grant - 10/27/2009 Hopefully everyone will read this and also join the ranks of those of us who are truly happy with Xoticpc. Ordered a Sager 9280 with the i7 -975 and I have to say it is truly a screamer. Your staff has been from day of ordering to now real professional , courteous and very knowledgeable. When I order my next laptop one day and I will it will be from you guys. I am also recommending you to all of my friends who are looking for laptops as well.

Build of Computer 10
As soon as I received it yesterday here in Iraq. I immediately erased the hard drive reformatted it and installed XP, Vista and Ubuntu on there. Working to put fedora on there next. The “Beast” as I call mine is truly a screamer.
Thank you for the many sleepless nights coming up. |
Robert Grant - 10/03/2009 Mine has shipped to me and I am anxiously awaiting it. Writing this review now and will do another one once system arrives. The Sales Department along with the Billing Department have been 100% helpful , knowledgable and has worked with me on every step of the way. Also for the record they also ship to APO addresses which really rocks. |
Eric Dahlberg - 10/01/2009 I've had the sager np9262 which is similar to this but older specs over a year now. You can't beat xoticpc's value and performance as far as i know.
It's not as good as a desktop. But away from home, I can still pwn in Call of Duty 4. _(^.^)_ |
Richard Sandore - 07/28/2009 This machine ROCKS!!!
I debated for a month as to buy it or not and could not really find any comsumer reviews, so I thought I would write one.
First, XOTICPC is great. Good communication. Ordering process was extremely smooth. Fast build and shipping. Only wierd things was I live in California. The machine is manufactured at Sager, which is in CA. So after the build was complete, it was shipped to Xoticpc in Nebraska, and then shipped to me from there to avoid the CA sales tax. That was fine as it saved me over $300 :)
I got the Core i7 Extreme 975, 3.3 Ghz with 6 GB 1333 memory. and a 320 GB hard drive. Everything else is pretty much standard.
The machine worked perfect right out of the box. But, I immediately put in a Corsair P256 SSD. (Got it for $700 from Tiger Direct. It was just more bang for the buck than the Intel from Xotic--sorry Xotic). Took 5 minutes to swap the drives and about an hour to install Vista 64 bit and the drivers--all supplied with the laptop.
This machine is so fast. I mean FAST. From the push of the start button to ready to use is only about 20 seconds. To encode a DVD with PE7 that took 2 hours and 15 minutes on a Toshiba with a Core 2 Duo 1.1 Ghz only takes about 17 minutes on the Sager. I mean everything is like instantaneous.
I'm not a gamer so can't comment on that. I just wanted a FAST machine.
The unit is not small. I would not travel with it regularly. But I like the laptop form factor. Though not small, I think it is stylish, though not sleek like most consumer units.
The display is Awesome. The best I have ever seen on a laptop.
Overall, very, very happy with the laptop. |
